Given the pending Gambling Bill, UK will become a key jurisdiction which may become a Mecca for both on and offline gaming/gambling activities. More likely than not, London will become yet another key economic centre (like the many IPOs of TMT).

Key is to find the right business models that will be acceptable for the whole value chain (from content provider, to distributions and indeed the end users. How does one keep sourcing the content that is needed to fuel the virtuous circle.

Very important: Follow the money in a responsible manner!

* Understanding the market, industry lifecycle, key players, market dynamics/trends and target audience and their selection criteria.


* How to identify the decision process within and outside of the organisation that influences the strategic choice.

* Decide what differentiates the new offerings and ideally change the basis of competition and or market culture. Challenging task, but if successful, could be VERY rewarding.

Interactive access of Lottery application

Performed a STRATEGIC market analysis of the players, products, key trends within and outside interactive access (mobile, iTV & online) to legislated lottery offering, and advised the likley dynamics of the market hence identified key strategy required to ensure and capitalise on the success given the regulatory constraints.

Asia Pacific business development plan

Tallied the existing product, investigated the addressable markets (all the players from intended customers, resellers to competitors and their life cycles), compared and contrasted how applicable is the company’s product and services, then devised the best sales/ business development plans for 3, 6, 12 months.

Mobile Content and platforms Selection/ marketing

Assisted a telco to segment and select the key contents and partners that not only provide stickiness but enhance the company's valuation (with view for IPO), and strategically positioned within the market place for growth and establish and maintain decent cash flow.

 

 

Built up a gaming/ gambling operation

I devised the brand, I was responsible for the end-to-end business planning and operations (from strategy, vendor selection, to chosing the legal jurisdictions, hosting, business and operational procedures, plus the hiring of personnel etc.)

Key findings: Mobile/iTV (or broadcast TV) betting or softgaming (small bet) will be key growth areas for the coming months/ years.

Operators should gear up for this and position themselves accordingly, and move to the more hardcore gambling when the Gambling Bill is passed and comes into force.

Mobile Gambling (SMS/ EMS/ MMS/ WAP/ J2ME)

Devised the business process of online/ mobile gambling and defined the critical characteristics for business/ competitive success and advised whether SMS/ EMS/ MMS/WAP/J2ME/BREW would be applicable for different markets; if so, how can they be deployed given the market situation and availability of handsets at that point in time.

Wireless enabling platform

Devised a working platform strategy for wirelessly enabling backend legacy system. Devsied how to deliver real and percieved value without being bogged down with developing a platform that only pleases nerds. Key was to become a viable and sustainable business that keeps the whole value chain happy.

Wireless Marketing

Devised the best way to augment existing on-line marketing budget by using wireless and how to ensure that there was a measurable result (given no comparison data previously) compared to typical non-wireless campaign. Selected key players for the customer specific project, in terms of delivery, countries targeted etc. and budgetary considerations.
