Career so far

My present career choice is a combination of Telecom and Gaming/Gambling. Either permanent or as a consultant or indeed to devise and establish joint ventures (based on a win-win proposition).

Since 2002 I have re-aligned my focus from TMT to a combination of Telecom and Gaming & Gambling. I also completed the Executive MBA at the Cass Business School whose pedigree is its City heritage (mostly senior exec. from banks or related industries).

For a year, I was responsible for starting a new business unit, and responsible for the gaming/gambling operations (focused on mobile and iTV) from putting together the business strategy, sourcing strategic suppliers (negotiate & contract), creating brand/ business processes to creating & testing new products/ services that are suitable for B2C market (to test the product & marketing mix). The products can be distributed directly or via B2B re-branding/ whitelabeling. All the operations were set up in a responsible and reliable manner (legally and also with GamCare).

Before that, I consulted for a European lottery on their interactive channel strategy.

Previously, like the rest of the TMT bubble hopefuls, I also gambled my career on start-ups. I was responsible for business and market strategy within two wireless Internet startups, targeting Europe and Asia Pacific separately. Target audience was Telecom operators, industries, and channel/distribution partners. Resulted in major alliances, sales and good pipeline.

Before that, between 98-2000, I was working in Sema Group Telecom, responsible for Asia Pacific sales with responsibility for two European countries.

My focus then had been staying close to the revenue stream (hence I used to sell prepaid/postpaid intelligent billing for Telcos). I over-achieved my target consistently.

Previously, between 95-98, I was in a different vertical within Telecom, in mobile/fixed network planning and optimisation for Telecom operators worldwide, plus the high level sales of the planning software and associated services within EMEA and Asia Pacific region.

My MSc in Telecommunication Technology gave me a fantastic foundation to break into the TMT sector and joined the TMT bubble.

I also have a background in BT Research laboratory performing signalling planning research and previously as Manufacturing Production manager (based on my first BEng (Hons) Degree of Engineering Science and Manufacturing systems).
